In shortMaraScan processes your scans on your iPhone. We don't collect, upload, sell or share your scans, photos or personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
1Who is responsible
MaraScan is developed by Alessandro Cocchi, who is the data controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For any privacy question or request, write to support@marascan.com.
2Data processed on your device
Camera, TrueDepth and LiDAR
MaraScan uses the camera, the TrueDepth camera and, on supported models, the LiDAR scanner only while you are scanning, to build the 3D model you asked for. Images and depth data are processed on your device and are not sent to us or to anyone else.
Face data
If you scan a person's face with the TrueDepth camera, the resulting depth and image data are used only to create the 3D model you requested. This data stays on your device, is not shared with third parties, and is not used to identify anyone, for advertising, or to train any model. MaraScan does not use or access Face ID.
Photos
If you use photo-based scanning, or choose to import or save images, MaraScan accesses only the photos you capture or select. They are processed on your device.
Your scans and models
Scans, models, notes, drawings and reports you create are stored inside the app on your device. They may be included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup), according to your iOS settings; those backups are handled by Apple under its own privacy policy. Deleting the app deletes its data from your device.
Exporting and sharing
When you export or share a file (for example to Files, Mail or another app), you choose where it goes. From that moment, the destination service handles the file under its own privacy policy.
3Data handled by Apple
Purchases
Where in-app purchases or subscriptions are available, payments are processed entirely by Apple. We never receive your payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether a purchase or subscription is active.
Crash reports
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and basic usage statistics. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
4When you contact us
If you write to support@marascan.com, we receive your email address and the content of your message, including any attachments you choose to send. We use them only to answer you and to fix the issue you report, based on your request and our legitimate interest in supporting the app. Messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and for no more than 24 months afterwards. Our email service providers process these messages on our behalf.
5This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or external fonts. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may record technical data such as IP addresses in server logs for security purposes, under GitHub's own privacy policy.
6Children
MaraScan is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
7Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Since your scans never leave your device, you control them directly. For any data we hold, such as support emails, write to support@marascan.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; in Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
8Changes to this policy
If we add features that send data off your device, such as cloud processing, we will describe them here and ask for your permission in the app before any data is sent. When this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date below and let you know in the app.
